VIP Song For March 2011

I’ve decided to post the March 2011 “song play thru” video I produced for last month’s VIP Session. I think it turned out really good. Play the video below to listen to the entire song.

That’s ok! Thanks for listening anyway. Personally, I really love this song. I think it’s my best work to date and represents one of the most musically intricate compositions I’ve produced. Cheers! – Scott

    Hey Scott!

I’ve been tuning into these final productions, as I am not apart of the VIP.

Very interesting track and production. Quite a intricate composition indeed!

I liked the layering and variations on the leads and melodies, which did give a good interest to the mix.

Really liked the bass in this track. Good vocal samples as well.

    Overall, a solid production.

All that being said, I found the composition somewhat too complicated and cluttered. I thought there were too many elements in the mix, and not enough hook or energy. Maybe I am just a sucker for high energy melodies, big drops, and amazing build-ups. Whereas this track was definitely a little more down-tempo.

Still a great track. Good atmosphere, beats, and composition.

    Cheers.

sincerely i don’t like this track, u can do better for sure man, in composition, arrangement e mixing..maybe a re arrangement of this with other banging sounds will be better…anyway keep up the great work in all of you’re doing ;)

    Hey Scott,

Overall I did like this track, however I have a few comments. (but i am not a great producer so take these as you will)

    - I really did not like the fx1 track that you played throughout your song. In my opinion, it did not add anything to the track and in fact ruined some of the melodic build ups or drops for your song.

    - I did like your leads and bass, those sounded amazing, and with your kick created a really good beat.

    - The vocal effects were superb

    - The breaks in the song were also a plus for me.

So overall, just didn’t like the FX1 track, and just as a side note, I don’t exactly think this is generic trance, maybe I haven’t listened enough, but this almost seemed more towards some electro I’ve heard. Or at least in the middle.

Thanks for taking the time to make this, I learned alot.

Thank you Alex. Glad you liked it and learned from it!

  • David Howard

Your clearly very talented with the amount of tutorials you’ve produced and the high quality of learning that i picked up from them is priceless, although this track reminds me of the old ‘tetris’ game.. i think you could produce a lot better!

Best of Luck with it anyway!!

*check me out on soundcloud!! ;)

  • Norm Lenhart

Liked it generally but it seemed a bit disjointed for lack of a better term. The individual sounds were fantastic, but it just didn’t seem to come together for me.

That said, I’m looking forward to what you do next.

  • Deyan

    it’s ok, it’s unique.
im sure it wont be your best song nor your last, its good i am sure you tried new stuff and perhaps learned something new along the way. its not the destination folks but the journey, cheers!

embrace it for what it is, ideas, fealings captured in an audio capsule, hehe

  • Arsen

The music is powerful no doubt, but still I am not able to figure out how the melody is created.

  • Raver_raven

this is pretty cool i’d like to see u do one where u make a song that’s uplifting like “italobrothers: stamp on the ground” or like “basshunter: i can walk on water” great bands and i’m rockin the same software as basshunter FL Studios all the way STAMP ON THE GROUND!!!

What People Are Saying

Hey Scott, I just wanted to say thank you for the in-depth tutorial on eqing low end sounds. I have been producing for 4 yrs and I haven't seen anyone do this as in depth and straight forward as you have done. After following your vids my sound has improved 10 fold and I'm now equalizing (when needs be) with solid purpose... can't thank you enough keep em coming man.
