[..YouTube..] Great tutorial Scott, I would love to see some sound design tutorials on the sounds Markus Schulz uses in his “Do you Dream” Album. They all sound fairly basic but the way he uses filters and effects really change them into something complex. I think that this would be a great series!
[..YouTube..] You could use EQ8… I used Auto Filter (on Bass 1) because all I needed was a simple HPF to cut out the low end.

Scott,
Thanks for this tutorial. I’m more tweaking with great preset sounds. But the way you process each sound and work your way to the original is great. Absolutely gonna use this.
[..YouTube..] Sound design tutorials are very helpful. Maybe release a bunch of “how-to-produce-that-sound” tuts similar to Sonic Academy`s in the future? I think that would be an excellent idea! I can hear that you know what you are doing, very professional sound.

Hey Scott,
What voice in Sylenth did you start with?

I started with the “Init Preset” for each of them – click on the “Menu” button in the Sylenth1 display and select “Init Preset”.

You compressor is going red ?? in your tutorial i dont think this is the meaning ?
http://www.TranceMusicMastery.com Scott McLean
Generally speaking, yes – red is bad. But that’s not always the case. Here, if the compressor is adding distortion due to the output clipping (which in this case I can’t really distinguish separately from the sound), then it contributes in a desirable way to the overall result.

Awesome sound and a fantastic tutorial yet again…
However I’m sure there are people out there like me who are running on a very tight budget and can’t afford soft synth’s like Sylenth1 just yet.
I would love to see a tutorial like this which uses free soft synth’s like Superwave P8, TAL Noisemaker or even Abletons own Operator to get sounds as rich and impressive as this, I’ve tried with operator, but can’t seem to get it just right.

Hey Scott could you please do a second video on the sound design of those three parts? Thanks, I really appreciate it. Also, I’ve been meaning to ask you could you list what goes in your audio rack? I want to emulate what you’re doing. Thank you.

Scott just wanted to let you know i’m back after having been lost for a while. I finally got a great mac and ableton finally and your tutorial on this has inspired me to continue living out my dream of producing music such as this. You tutorials are of no match to any others out there. I am so glad of having this website and yourself to teach us all how to make amazing trance. It’s a mystery as to why you aren’t a famous producer with the amount of talent you have. Thanks a million and more.
